This house was built around the turn of the 20th century and a town grew up around it. The owners wanted to open a quilt shop so the first floor had to meet handicapped access and fire code standards. The two story addition on the back was to house the required stairwells. The work inside widening doorways in plaster walls, patching oak flooring back in and rebuilding the bathrooms proved to be far more complex than the addition itself. It was a great project though, and when we were done, you couldn’t tell the new fiber cement siding or window trim on the addition from the 100 year old cedar bevel on the rest of the building.
